The Alliance for African American Health in Central Texas (AAAHCT) is a non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas established to address health disparities among African Americans in Central Texas. The Alliance is the outgrowth of a conference held in April 2005 by the Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department (HHSD) entitled “Health Disparities among African Americans in Central Texas.” The Alliance was formed following the 2005 conference and began functioning as a non-profit organization in January 2007. Since its inception, the Alliance has focused on activities to engage communities, raise awareness about health issues, promote education and prevention, and foster professional associations.
