As a long-time student of the sciences, a licensed massage therapist, a certified lymphatic therapist, and a proponent/participant of alternative folk healing traditions and rituals, I honor both the art and science of healing in each session. My history of professional touch began with Reiki in 1995, and continued in 1999 with an energetic technique called Harmonization, a core element of the international organization, Invitation to Life. After finishing my Bachelor’s work in nutrition at the University of Texas at Austin, I became a licensed massage therapist in 2004, naturally incorporating energy work into my sessions. Immediately after becoming licensed, I began accumulating my continuing education hours in Lymphatic Drainage Technique, and in 2008, completed the Vodder Technique Manual Lymphatic Drainage & Complete Decongestive Therapy certification through Klose Training & Consulting. Though initially on the road of hard science through research, it was my own journey in healing and family death that landed me in the world of massage. Our Western allopathic medical system was great for diagnosing what was not wrong with me during my years of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia, but not what WAS wrong with me. For those answers, I looked to the world of alternative healing – yoga, pranayama, guided meditation, juice therapy, colonics, American herb tinctures, Traditional Chinese Medicine (cupping, gua sha, tui na, acupuncture, Chinese herbs), diet modifications, lymphatic massage, coffee enemas, mainstream therapeutic massage, reflexology, Reiki, Harmonization, prayer, meditation (Transcendental, mantra-based, Kundalini forms), guided imagery, deep breathing, nature therapy, journaling, sculpting, dance, painting, song-writing, performing, toning, listening to music, playing music, gurbani kirtan, son Jarocho fandango, qi gong, laughter therapy, webbing, undefined energy work forms, chakra therapy, NMT (neuromodulation technique, the Feinberg method), laying on of hands, Tibetan sound therapy, sweat therapy, Reams metabolic testing, dark field microscopy, skin rolling, aromatherapy, fasting, and other modalities that I’ve forgotten by now. As a result of this long journey made up of the many experiences in my own healing, I have come to respect the primary place of the healing arts, world rituals, and all forms of vibrational wisdom for healing and success of the individual and the world. My freestyle approach to bodywork reflects this, emphasizing my strengths – intuition, movement, and sound.
